“One thing i have learnt from this conference and after coming back to Africa is that most journalists are stuck to this idea of “we are trained so we are the only one who should practice journalism.” But after you show them examples such as afrigadget.com favicon; mzalendo.com favicon, reporter.co.za favicon, CNN iReport favicon, wildlifedirect.org favicon, Tunisia Prison Map favicon, Egyptian bloggers reporting police brutality, the Namibian newspaper SMS experiment, Mail & Guardian Thought Leader, the Sunday Times Blogumists, the Daily Nation Kenya election blog, etc, they start to rethink their positions. Panos workshop for west african journalists was a great idea, and MISA (media institute of southern africa) is planning on doing the same for southern Africa”

“Another thing that i have learnt is that when you talk about this stuff while you are living in the west you wont have the same perspective as when you are actually on the ground in Africa. you really get to understand what digital divide means.”
